Omniphobic SERS substrate was designed using an array of silver-coated nanotowers with wavy side walls. The re-entrant geometry on the side walls rendered the surface omniphobic, and metal nanogaps provided a strong localized surface plasmon resonance effect. Molecules dissolved in either water or organic solvent could be concentrated on the substrate by drying, which significantly enhanced the Raman intensity.
