Photonic microcylinders with distinct compartments are designed by photopolymerizing stratified laminar flow of multiple photocurable suspensions formed in cylindrical microfluidic channel. Silica particles in the suspension are ordered to develop structural colors and barium ferrite particles are aligned to render microcylinders magnetoresponsive. The structural color of the compartmentalized photonic microcylinders can be switched by aligning their faces along the external magnetic field.
