An article in Lab on a Chip on SERS-active microspheres has been accepted for publication
SERS-active microspheres with hierarchical surface structure were prepared by combination of self-assembly of silica particles on droplet interface and selective silver deposition on the silica surface. The microspheres showed high sensitivity and fast binding kinetics in SERS detection owing to dense array of hot spots and high mobility of microparticles, respectively. Especially, the microspheres could be functionalized with structural colors and magnetic nanoparticles.
